Anduril has finalized the full shipment of Altius 600M loitering munitions to Taiwan, completing a US-approved defense deal. The agreement, cleared in June 2024, covered 291 drones and associated equipment, with deliveries beginning in August 2025 and wrapping up within seven months, as reported by local sources.
The United States, Taiwan’s primary defense partner, is also preparing to supply additional military assets this year, including Abrams main battle tanks, HIMARS rocket systems, and Harpoon coastal defense weapons. These transfers are aimed at strengthening Taiwan’s deterrence posture as tensions with China persist.
Weighing 27 pounds (12 kilograms), the Altius 600M is a versatile loitering munition capable of carrying up to 3 kilograms of payload for strike, ISR, or electronic warfare missions. It offers a range of roughly 440 kilometers and an endurance of up to four hours.
In response to evolving security challenges, Taiwan intends to significantly raise its defense budget over the coming years. Initiatives include forming dedicated drone units, incorporating UAV operations into military training, and deploying a three-layer drone strategy. At the same time, Taipei is progressing with its “T-Dome” air defense network, targeting operational readiness by 2027 and full deployment by 2033.
