Sikorsky has unveiled a new set of modular upgrade kits for the UH-60 Black Hawk, enabling rapid transformation between transport and combat roles using the same airframe. The system allows operators to quickly adapt mission configurations, incorporating weapons such as rockets, guns, and guided munitions without compromising the aircraft’s primary utility functions. Reconfiguration can reportedly be achieved within three hours, supporting missions ranging from air assault and close air support to medical evacuation, ISR, and tactical transport.

Available in two production-ready variants, the kits are designed for close support and precision strike operations. A configuration showcased at the Army Aviation Warfighting Summit demonstrated the ability to equip the helicopter with up to six weapon stations, including cabin-mounted 7.62mm machine guns, GAU-19 .50-caliber Gatling guns, and 19-round rocket pods. The system also supports precision-guided weapons and provisions for air-launched effects canisters, along with missiles such as AGM-114 Hellfire, AGM-179 JAGM, and Spike NLOS.

The kits will be offered through both foreign military sales and direct commercial agreements, facilitating integration across partner nations. Installation support will be handled through Lockheed Martin-linked facilities, including PZL Mielec in Poland. Drawing on operational experience from Middle East deployments, Sikorsky emphasizes that the Black Hawk continues to evolve with upgrades in propulsion, digital architecture, and autonomous features. The helicopter is expected to remain a key medium-lift asset well beyond 2070.
