The Croatian government has signed a multinational framework contract with Czech truck manufacturer Tatra, opening the door for the Croatian Armed Forces to procure up to 420 T-815 military trucks in 6×6 and 8×8 layouts.

The agreement builds on Slovakia’s earlier accession to the framework and reflects, according to Tatra, increasing alliance demand for its combat-proven vehicle platforms. The company noted that the arrangement promotes cross-border defense cooperation, improves procurement efficiency, and reinforces the export competitiveness of the Czech defense sector.

Tatra confirmed the framework contract with Croatia in December, covering a broad range of T-815 variants, including 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 versions across 24 mission-specific configurations. A parallel agreement provides the Slovak Armed Forces with a structured, long-term mechanism to order vehicles aligned with their operational needs.

The combined framework establishes a maximum contract value of €1.03 billion ($1.1 billion), excluding VAT, for all orders placed during the program.

Known commercially as Tatra Force, the T-815 military truck traces its origins to a commercial heavy-duty platform introduced in the 1980s, with the dedicated military version entering production in 2007. The platform has since been delivered worldwide in configurations ranging from 4×4 to 10×10.

Designed for versatility, the Tatra Force chassis supports multiple military applications, including logistics transport, armored troop carriers, MRAP vehicles, and self-propelled artillery and rocket launch systems. The vehicle is approximately 9 meters long, weighs 13,300 kilograms, and features a 420-liter fuel tank. Power is provided by a 400-horsepower Tatra V8 air-cooled turbocharged engine, delivering a top speed of 115 km/h and a driving range of up to 750 km.
