Lithuania Receives Rafael Spike LR2 Anti-Tank Missiles
The Lithuanian Armed Forces have received a new batch of Spike LR2 anti-tank guided missiles from Israeli defense firm Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, under a contract valued at 6 million euros ($6.9 million).
The missiles will be integrated with Lithuania’s Boxer “Vilkas” infantry fighting vehicles, which are armed with the Israeli Samson Mk II remote weapon station featuring a 30mm cannon, 7.62mm machine gun, and Spike LR2 launcher.
This delivery follows successful live-fire trials in May, conducted with the Lithuanian Army, OCCAR, and ARTEC GmbH, the KNDS-Rheinmetall joint venture.
The Spike LR2 is a fifth-generation, multi-role missile equipped with AI-based target tracking. Weighing around 13 kilograms, it can strike targets at 5.5 kilometers from the ground or up to 10 kilometers from an aircraft. Each missile measures 1.2 meters in length, has a 130mm diameter, and carries a Tandem HEAT warhead capable of defeating armored vehicles and hardened positions.
