Absher Construction Company has secured a $22.8 million contract to construct an Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV) support center at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, Washington. The project includes five service bays, a paint booth, and a blast booth. An additional $1 million will be added later for fixtures, equipment, and security enhancements.
Initial work will involve site preparation—such as forest clearing, structural fill, and stormwater management—before erecting a purpose-built pre-engineered metal structure. When finished, the facility will enable comprehensive AFV maintenance, with dedicated bays, offices, and a large vehicle reception area.
Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor houses the Marine Corps Security Force Battalion Bangor, which safeguards the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific. The battalion operates Humvees, MRAPs, light armored vehicles, and utility trucks in its mission to protect the Navy’s Pacific ballistic missile submarine force. Completion of the project is expected in October 2027, coordinated with the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command in Washington, DC.
