ELTA North America has secured an $11 million contract from the US Navy to develop and produce next-generation airborne communications jammers for fighter aircraft supporting the Stand-Off Jammer (SOJ) Jets program.

The contract covers the design, development, and fabrication of high-frequency and ultra-high-frequency stand-off jammer systems intended to disrupt enemy communications while enhancing aircraft survivability in contested electromagnetic environments.

These jammers will be integrated into Navy aircraft under the SOJ Jets initiative, reflecting the service’s growing emphasis on airborne electronic attack as a core element of modern air operations.

ELTA’s work will prioritize communications bands that continue to play a critical role in military command and control, even as electronic warfare systems increasingly target radar and higher-frequency threats.

The SOJ Jets program is part of a broader effort to bolster electronic attack support for carrier strike groups, expeditionary forces, and joint operations. Stand-off jamming allows aircraft to conduct electronic attack from extended distances, reducing exposure to enemy air defenses.

The effort complements the Navy’s Next Generation Jammer program, which is replacing legacy electronic attack pods such as the AN/ALQ-99 with more capable and flexible systems.

In December 2024, the Navy achieved initial operational capability with the NGJ Mid-Band system on the EA-18G Growler, providing enhanced jamming performance compared with earlier solutions.

Separately, in November 2025, Textron’s Airborne Tactical Advantage Company was awarded a contract valued at up to $200 million to deliver stand-off jamming jet services through 2030, using modified business jets to support training and evaluation of fleet electronic warfare capabilities.
