Germany’s Hensoldt has been awarded a €340 million ($397 million) contract to deliver more air defense radars to Ukraine.
The deal includes the delivery of TRML-4D and SPEXER 2000 3D MkIII radars. The TRML-4D, an integral part of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system already deployed in Ukraine, uses active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology to track up to 1,500 airborne targets — such as drones, cruise missiles, and aircraft — across a 250-kilometer (155-mile) radius.
The SPEXER 2000 radar supports short-range surveillance and can monitor activity across ground, sea, and low-altitude airspace. It is operational in mobile air defense platforms like the Skyranger 30, and is also deployed in laser-based counter-drone systems such as Feldlager and HoWiSM.
