Sikorsky, part of Lockheed Martin and based in Stratford, Connecticut, has been awarded a $433,214,151 contract modification as part of the U.S. Army’s Black Hawk Multi-Year Ten procurement. The modification, P00087 to contract W58RGZ-22-C-0010, fully funds Program Year Five and provides for the delivery of nine UH-60M utility helicopters and 15 HH-60M medical evacuation variants, together with programme management services.

The modification is executed under a five-year multiyear procurement agreement concluded in June 2022 at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, between Sikorsky and the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office Aviation. That agreement established the purchase of 120 H-60 Black Hawk helicopters valued at roughly $2.3 billion and included options for an additional 135 aircraft for U.S. government users and foreign military sales partners, potentially increasing the overall programme value to around $4.4 billion.

As the tenth multiyear contract awarded for the H-60 platform, the MY10 programme reflects the U.S. Army’s enduring dependence on the Black Hawk as a foundational aviation capability. The multiyear approach enables more predictable production, lower unit costs compared to annual contracting, and continued modernisation of the rotary-wing fleet while preserving a vital defence-industrial base.

Within the MY10 structure, procurement quantities are set annually based on congressional funding and Department of Defense priorities. Aircraft deliveries began in July and will continue through 2027, allowing the Army to adjust production in line with changing operational demands and force-structure decisions.

The UH-60M serves as the Army’s primary tactical utility helicopter, performing missions such as air assault, troop and materiel movement, internal and external lift, command and control, and sustainment of forward-deployed units. Its capability to operate from austere, unprepared sites supports rapid manoeuvre and effective sustainment across complex operational environments.
