State-run Turkish shipbuilder ASFAT has signed a contract to construct Türkiye’s first indigenous air defense destroyer, the TF-2000, along with four offshore patrol vessels.
The TF-2000 will be assembled in 60 sections and is expected to be completed by 2030.
Spanning 149 meters, the warship will support helicopter operations, endure 4-meter-high seas, and remain at sea for 45 days without resupply.
Equipped with advanced weaponry and sensors — including a vertical launch system, phased-array radar, and torpedo launchers — the ship will carry out air defense, anti-submarine, electronic warfare, ISR, and special operations missions.
