Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Airbus have formalized a partnership to export Türkiye’s Hürjet supersonic trainer aircraft to Spain.
Under the agreement revealed at a defense expo in Istanbul, Spain may acquire up to 30 jets, with part of the production to occur domestically.
The first deliveries are scheduled for 2028, gradually replacing the aging SF-5M fleet.
Originally built to succeed the Turkish Air Force’s T-38 trainers, the Hürjet boasts Mach 1.4 speed, a range of 1,060 nautical miles, and a 3,402-kg payload.
