The US Army has signed $15.5 million worth of contracts with three American firms to add autonomous functions to its current Infantry Squad Vehicles (ISVs).

Through the Unmanned Systems Autonomy program, Forterra (Maryland), Overland AI (Washington), and Scout AI (California) will integrate commercial autonomy technologies into military platforms.

Prototype vehicles are expected to be delivered for demonstration and evaluation in May 2026, allowing the Army to test reliability and performance before making broader decisions on unmanned and autonomous systems.

If proven effective, the technology could later be applied to additional ground vehicles.
