The Swedish government has signed a 60-million kronor ($6.3 million) deal with Saab to develop and test a large uncrewed undersea vehicle (LUUV).
Equipped with advanced sensors for seabed mapping and threat detection, the vehicle will be roughly the size of a small submarine. Saab will incorporate its Autonomous Ocean Core system for independent navigation above and below water.
The system will be non-weaponized in its first phase, serving primarily as a decision-support asset, with sea trials set for 2026.
