Exosens has secured a major contract to supply 17,000 monocular night vision devices to the Spanish Army, marking one of Spain’s largest modernization efforts in night vision technology.
Production will be handled by Night Vision Lasers Spain (NVLS), a company recently acquired by Exosens.
At the heart of the deal is a 50-degree field-of-view monocular, powered by 16mm 4G image intensifier tubes. Unlike traditional binoculars, these single-lens optical systems can be mounted on helmets or weapons, providing soldiers with clear visibility in low-light or no-light environments.
The upgraded model increases the visible field by over 60% compared to standard 40-degree systems, without adding extra size or weight.
Each monocular incorporates Exosens’ 16mm 4G intensifier tube technology, offering superior resolution and light sensitivity.
Spanning 2025 to 2028, the agreement represents a major milestone in Spain’s drive to equip its land forces with next-generation optics. The country had previously adopted AN/PVS-14 monoculars in 2019 and later fielded 16mm 4G binoculars across its Army and Navy.
This deal also mirrors a broader NATO trend, where night vision and sensing systems are increasingly viewed as essential combat assets—on par with armored vehicles and artillery—particularly in Eastern European deployments and joint exercises.
