Saab has signed a deal valued at roughly 550 million Swedish kronor ($58.5 million) to deliver its Giraffe 4A radar and support services to a Latin American nation. The agreement marks Saab’s first sale of the Giraffe 4A land-based variant in the region.

The Giraffe 4A is a mobile radar system optimized for air defense, situational awareness, and military air traffic control. Since its launch in 2014, it has been capable of detecting and tracking multiple threats, including aircraft, UAVs, artillery fire, and missiles, at ranges of up to 400 kilometers (249 miles).

The system delivers continuous 360-degree coverage, with real-time updates every second, or up to eight times per second when directed at a known threat sector. Easily deployable by just two operators within 10 minutes, the radar is also airlift-compatible with transport aircraft such as the C-130, A400M, and C-17.
