Saab has received a Swedish order for sensors and a command-and-control solution to reinforce brigade-level ground-based air defense.

Valued at 2.1 billion kronor ($220 million), the package includes the Giraffe 1X radar and LSS Lv C2, plus integration support, technical studies, and spare parts for short-range mobile air-defense forces.

As part of the contract, Saab will examine integrating the AMB radar into the air defense network, a system intended to detect medium-range aircraft and drone threats.

Deliveries will take place from 2027 to 2028.

Sweden previously procured the Giraffe 1X, a lightweight 3D radar with 360-degree detection able to identify small targets—reportedly the size of a milk carton—at distances of up to 4 kilometers.

The system weighs less than 150 kg, making it suitable for mobile, stationary, or rapidly deployable roles and capable of tracking threats such as missiles and unmanned aircraft.

The LSS Lv command-and-control framework coordinates air-defense operations, manages engagement decisions, distributes threat data, and supports planning and review.
