Airbus Helicopters has secured an order from Morocco for 10 H225M helicopters to enhance the Royal Moroccan Air Force’s combat search and rescue capacity. The agreement includes support and services, though cost and delivery timelines have not been disclosed.
Replacing the older Puma fleet, the incoming H225Ms will come equipped with double hoists, searchlights, and Safran’s Euroflir 410 EO system. The helicopters will also carry machine guns and an electronic warfare protection suite.
The H225M is built for multi-role operations, including CSAR, special missions, troop transport, and medical evacuation. Its Safran Makila 2A1 engines deliver a top speed of 324 km/h and a cruise speed of 262 km/h. The aircraft operates effectively from ships or land bases and is compatible with night-vision equipment.
With standard fuel tanks, the helicopter offers a 920-km range, extended to 1,253 km with additional tanks, and endurance of 4 hours 30 minutes. It seats up to 31 personnel and supports a maximum takeoff weight of 11,000 kg—or 11,200 kg with an external load.
