RTX unit Pratt & Whitney has signed a contract worth up to $2.8 billion to supply F135 engines for the F-35 Lightning II program.

The agreement provides for 141 propulsion systems to be delivered across the US armed services, allied nations under the Joint Strike Fighter program, and foreign military sales recipients.

Work will be conducted at several sites in the US, with major production centered in Connecticut, Indiana, and Washington, and additional contributions from facilities in Maine, California, Michigan, Oregon, Georgia, Virginia, New Jersey, and international locations.

The initiative, overseen by the Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland, is scheduled for completion by February 2028.
