South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries has launched the Philippine Navy’s second Miguel Malvar-class corvette, the BRP Diego Silang (FFG-07), in Ulsan. The vessel is part of a pair ordered in 2021 to expand the navy’s surface fleet and complement its Jose Rizal-class frigates. The ship was officially floated out during the ceremonial launch from the shipyard’s dry dock.
