Norway’s defense procurement agency has awarded Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace a contract worth 1 billion Norwegian kroner ($99 million) to supply additional components for the NASAMS air defense system, improving its performance and battlefield resilience.
The order covers new command posts, mobile communication nodes, and enhanced radio systems that will integrate with Norway’s four existing NASAMS batteries acquired since 2024, featuring advanced launchers, fire control centers, and upgraded missiles.
As part of the upgrade, the current Multi Role Radio (VHF) will be replaced with Kongsberg’s THOR Combat Net Radio, providing higher capacity and broader operational capabilities.
These enhancements will allow faster decision-making, greater operational tempo, and improved system survivability in complex defense environments.
