To boost maritime ISR operations, the Netherlands Ministry of Defence has procured eight V-BAT VTOL drones for use by the Royal Netherlands Navy and Marine Corps.
This purchase is part of a broader defense upgrade, with selection influenced by the V-BAT’s strong performance during the Ukraine War, as noted by Shield AI and Dutch military officials.
The system offers long-endurance surveillance and targeting without dependence on GNSS, making it resistant to jamming threats.
The V-BAT also successfully demonstrated its capabilities during NATO’s REPMUS 2024 exercise, flying maritime ISR missions from the deck of the HNLMS Johan de Witt over a one-month period.
