The Netherlands is set to purchase €500 million ($577 million) worth of U.S. weapons for Ukraine, becoming the first NATO country to fully fund a package through a new initiative aimed at accelerating deliveries from American stockpiles, according to the Dutch defense ministry.

This deal falls under the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), a mechanism introduced last month by the U.S. President and NATO Secretary General.

Through PURL, participating nations pay the U.S. for defense systems and ammunition already in American warehouses, which are then promptly dispatched to Ukraine as it continues to defend against Russia’s ongoing invasion since February 2022.
