Lockheed Martin has received a $30 million award from the US Army to push its Spike NLOS into Phase 2 of the M-LRPSM program. This decision follows a Phase 1 demonstration in August 2025 where the Spike NLOS successfully struck long‑range, obscured targets.

During Phase 2, Lockheed Martin will mount the Spike NLOS on an Infantry Utility Vehicle for safety and performance testing under realistic field conditions to verify its effectiveness when deployed from mobile platforms. The Spike NLOS — a precision, beyond‑line‑of‑sight missile in use by several allies — has been trialed by the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (Middle East), the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade (Poland, on AH‑64E Apaches), and the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade at Yuma Proving Ground. A final program down‑select will follow completion of Phase 2.

Program objective
M-LRPSM aims to equip mobile brigade combat teams with compact, vehicle‑mounted precision‑strike capability for use in contested or dispersed operations. The effort is designed to expand tactical strike options, complementing systems like the Precision Strike Missile and the Typhon Mid‑Range Capability so that smaller, mobile units can deliver standoff fires once reserved for larger formations.
