Lithuania has confirmed its intention to acquire the Embraer C-390 Millennium transport aircraft, strengthening its airlift capacity at a time of heightened regional security needs. Under the plan, three aircraft will be delivered by the end of the decade, replacing the C-27J Spartan fleet and giving the Lithuanian Air Force a next-generation air mobility solution. The decision underlines the country’s commitment to modernizing its military capabilities in line with NATO standards.

The jet-powered C-390 offers significant operational advantages compared to older turboprop models. It is capable of transporting up to 26 tons of cargo, including heavy military vehicles and helicopters, at a cruising speed of 470 knots (870 km/h). With a range of 3,260 kilometers while carrying 23 tons, the aircraft ensures rapid and flexible response across Europe and beyond. Designed for versatility, it can take off and land from semi-prepared or unpaved runways, making it well-suited for both combat support missions and humanitarian aid operations. The program signals a generational leap in Lithuania’s military aviation.
