United States Air Force has assigned the designation AGM-190A to Leidos’ Small Cruise Missile, formally acknowledging it as a fielded stand-off precision strike system.

Known as “Black Arrow,” the 91-kilogram (200-pound) weapon is designed to deliver long-range effects at reduced cost. Its modular construction and open-systems software framework allow operators to tailor the missile to shifting operational demands.

The missile is driven by a TJ150-7 turbojet from Pratt & Whitney, enabling flight at Mach 0.8 and a service ceiling of 30,000 feet.

According to Leidos, the AGM-190A leverages the company’s background in small glide weapons, including the GBU-69, and incorporates modern production methods such as additive manufacturing and AI-enabled performance optimization.

The formal designation comes after a test deployment from a C-130 transport aircraft, where the missile achieved a stand-off reach of more than 400 nautical miles.
