The US Army has expanded its Javelin procurement under a $900.5-million contract, with Brazil and Tunisia joining as first-time buyers. This builds on a previous 2023 agreement with the Raytheon-Lockheed Martin team. Australia, Bulgaria, and Estonia are also set to receive deliveries. Brazil and Tunisia’s entry marks the system’s reach to all continents. The Javelin, weighing 25 pounds, combines portability with precision, engaging targets up to 4 kilometers away. Its Command Launch Unit enables flexible use through optical and thermal modes, enhancing dismounted troop effectiveness in diverse battlefields.
