Boeing has delivered the first Apache helicopters to the Indian Army as part of a U.S. foreign military sale deal approved in 2017.
This marks the completion of half the delivery of six AH-64E helicopters, the latest variant of the combat-proven platform. Indian defense authorities confirmed that the newly delivered Apaches will be deployed in Jodhpur to enhance regional defense, according to Mint news.
The AH-64E is armed with a 30mm chain gun, next-gen defensive systems, and is compatible with a wide arsenal of missiles for multi-domain precision strikes.
Each helicopter is powered by two General Electric T700 turboshaft engines, allowing speeds up to 300 km/h (186 mph) and a range of 500 km (311 miles). It measures 18 meters (59 feet) in length and features a rotor diameter of 15 meters (49 feet).
India’s Air Force already fields 22 Apache helicopters split across two squadrons, supporting operations along the northern and western frontiers.
