MKU Limited has secured a 6.6-billion-rupee ($75-million) contract from the Indian Army to supply 29,762 Netro NW 3000 Night Vision Weapon Sights, marking one of the largest electro-optical acquisitions by the force to date.

Awarded through the defense ministry’s emergency procurement provisions, the deal highlights India’s push for domestic manufacturing under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.

The Netro NW 3000, designed and produced within India under the IDDM framework, is compatible with standard assault rifles and significantly enhances visibility, detection, and engagement accuracy during night operations.

After extensive field trials validating its performance in diverse terrains, the system was chosen for its dependability and advanced optics.

Part of MKU’s Netro Optronics line, the device represents the company’s continued investment in indigenous electro-optic technologies. The firm already supports more than 230 global defense and security agencies with protective and optical solutions.

This acquisition adds to a growing list of local defense contracts, including BEL’s thermal imagers, ideaForge’s drones, and L&T’s K9 Vajra systems, reinforcing India’s commitment to strengthening its defense ecosystem and reducing import dependency.
