The Israeli Ministry of Defense has entered into a $150 million (approximately 500 million shekels) agreement with U.S.-based AM General for the procurement of hundreds of HMMWVs and associated spare parts support. U.S. military assistance is being used to finance the contract, with initial deliveries expected before year’s end.
Intended for use by the IDF Ground Forces, these vehicles will help replace losses and upgrade capabilities following prolonged military operations in Gaza, as well as strengthen preparation for possible future engagements. The Humvees ordered by Israel are specially outfitted for transporting over ten troops, evacuating the wounded, and supporting fire missions. While Humvees remain widely used, Israel has also recently expanded its JLTV fleet through both foreign military sales and direct commercial deals, including new orders placed as recently as late 2024.
