Saab has received an order from a European NATO customer for its Sirius SIGINT and surveillance system, including associated services, reinforcing growing demand for advanced passive sensing capabilities.
The contract, worth around €130 million, will see deliveries continue until 2030. Sirius integrates electronic and communications intelligence sensors to provide comprehensive situational awareness and strategic intelligence, supporting multi-domain operations across air, land, and sea.
To meet rising demand, Saab earlier announced plans to open a manufacturing site in Finland dedicated to producing Sirius Compact, a lightweight and highly flexible variant tailored for tactical missions and rapid platform integration. The facility is expected to enable scalable production capacity as requirements for passive electronic warfare and surveillance systems expand.
The Sirius architecture supports modular and distributed deployments, allowing customers to combine Saab and third-party sensors into geographically dispersed networks. Designed to operate discreetly, the system captures and processes signals across the entire RF spectrum, maintaining high performance even in dense and contested electromagnetic environments.
Advanced automation supports signal detection, classification, and prioritization, enabling sustained operations with reduced manpower requirements. With scalable data management, sensor fusion, and open-system interfaces, Sirius can be readily integrated into existing command-and-control frameworks and operational platforms.
