The Dutch Ministry of Defence is considering granting a multi-billion-dollar armored vehicle contract to Van Halteren Technologies for the production of around 400 Armored Combat Support Vehicles for the Royal Netherlands Army. The family-owned firm, based in Bunschoten, has reportedly taken the lead among roughly 20 competitors pursuing the program. The ACSV fleet is designed to enhance operational support for frontline forces, covering roles such as troop transport, logistics, vehicle recovery, and battlefield maintenance, with potential configurations including anti-drone and short-range air defence systems.

In early 2025, the MoD had already initiated plans to procure over 100 armored support vehicles for the 43rd Mechanized Brigade, targeting deliveries between 2029 and 2031. A decision to award the larger program domestically would reinforce the Dutch defence industrial ecosystem. Van Halteren currently contributes to several major platforms in Dutch service, including the CV90, Panzerhaubitze 2000, Fennek, and Leopard 2. The company is also aiming to secure work on the Netherlands’ four planned Orka-class submarines, contracted to France’s Naval Group. Such a move would support the government’s strategy to direct rising defence investments into domestic industry while meeting NATO’s 2 percent spending commitment.
