Draganfly has secured a significant strategic breakthrough with a new contract to supply its Commander 3XL drones to a confidential military customer in the Asia-Pacific region. Facilitated through a major defense contractor, the agreement underscores the rising confidence in Canadian unmanned aerial systems amid growing regional demand for advanced reconnaissance and logistics platforms. Due to security and regulatory limitations, the customer’s identity and detailed financial terms remain undisclosed.
The order includes a complete mission-ready package featuring AES-256 encrypted communications, a ruggedized ground control station, and a range of modular payloads designed for intelligence, surveillance, and operational support roles. The contract also provides pathways for follow-on orders, giving the end-user flexibility to expand drone deployments once the platform’s performance is fully validated across different field units.
Draganfly’s Commander 3XL is engineered as a high-capacity, heavy-lift drone tailored for demanding military and disaster-response missions. It can carry payloads up to 10 kilograms and supports thermal imaging, high-resolution optical systems, mapping tools, and other specialized sensors. A foldable airframe enhances its mobility, making it ideal for rapid-response operations or units operating in dispersed, hard-to-reach locations.
Built for all-weather operations, the Commander 3XL can fly in light rain and snow, reach speeds of 38 knots, and operate up to 2,438 meters in altitude. With an endurance of up to 50 minutes and a range beyond 10 kilometers depending on antenna configuration, the aircraft delivers strong long-range performance for military surveillance missions. This contract reinforces Draganfly’s growing footprint in the Asia-Pacific defense technology market.
