Babcock International has secured a long-term contract to maintain the portable power generators used by the British Army to supply electricity during field deployments.
The contract, worth up to 36 million pounds ($46 million) and potentially lasting eight years, covers maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the army’s generator fleet. Babcock will also oversee lifecycle management of the systems through asset management tools designed to maintain performance and readiness.
The work will be performed by specialist engineering teams operating from three sites in the United Kingdom, with the program expected to generate around 20 jobs.
Powering Deployed Operations
These generators, called Field Electrical Power Supplies (FEPS), are used to provide electricity for deployed forces during operations and exercises. They power communications networks, lighting systems, and other mission-critical equipment when troops operate in areas without access to established power infrastructure.
As modern military operations increasingly depend on digital communications, sensors, and command networks, portable energy systems have become vital for sustaining forces in remote and challenging environments.
The British Army relies on FEPS generators to support temporary camps, command centers, and forward bases.
Babcock International already maintains a broad support role across the UK Armed Forces, providing engineering support, asset management, shipbuilding services, and military training programs.
