US Army Seeks Prototype for Heavy-Lift Robotic Ground Vehicle

The US Army has issued a request for information (RFI) for a new Unmanned Ground Commercial Robotic Vehicle (UGCRV) prototype to support Armored Brigade Combat Teams.

The vehicle must carry loads of over 2,200 pounds (998 kilograms), operate on both roads and rough terrain, and move at a pace that matches dismounted infantry.

It should feature both remote control and autonomous capabilities for tasks such as troop following, area security, and point-to-point movement, without reducing mission effectiveness.

The program, capped at $650,000 per vehicle, will be overseen by the Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal in partnership with the National Advanced Mobility Consortium, with industry responses due this month.
