Following a public tender, the Tokyo Fire Department has selected Airbus Helicopters to supply a new H225 helicopter as part of its fleet renewal strategy. This addition will replace an aging aircraft, strengthening the department’s ability to respond swiftly to a wide range of emergency situations.

The H225 is optimized for demanding missions including search and rescue, disaster response, aerial firefighting, and medical emergencies. Key features include a specialized search and rescue mode for quick target identification, emergency stretchers for in-flight medical support, and a water tank mounted beneath the fuselage for firefighting operations.

Nationwide, 24 H225 helicopters are currently operated by Japan’s Ministry of Defence and government agencies, performing vital tasks such as emergency response, personnel transport, and high-level government travel.
