Leonardo has marked its inaugural international deployment at Defence Cyber Marvel, a large-scale cyber defense drill organized by the UK Ministry of Defence.
An 11-member apprentice team from Leonardo’s Bristol-based Cyber and Security unit took part, working alongside reservists from the Royal Signals. The group was challenged to protect diverse IT and operational technology networks—including Windows and Linux systems—while responding to increasingly sophisticated attacks, all coordinated under Singapore’s time zone to mirror the main competition environment.
Leonardo’s Security Operations Centre staff conducted pre-exercise training, and Royal Signals mentors guided the apprentices throughout the event. The team ultimately showcased its capacity to process real-time threat intelligence, coordinate defensive responses, identify and assess compromise indicators, harden systems, and neutralize cyber intrusions.
The London-based exercise is run annually with support from the National Crime Agency, the Cabinet Office, the Department for Business and Trade, and the Department for Work and Pensions. In its fifth year, the 2026 Singapore iteration gathered roughly 2,500 participants representing 29 countries and 70 organizations to strengthen collaborative cyber defense readiness.
