Australia stated this week that it will spend $4.7 billion on US-made SM-2 and SM-6 missiles, among the most advanced air defense interceptors globally, in a significant foreign military purchase. The deal was wrapped up this spring. The plan also involves doubling the number of major warships and building up Australia’s own defense industry.
