The US Navy is moving further into autonomous maritime operations with a newly unveiled 190-foot (58-meter) steel ship built to function independently for months at a time.

Developed by Blue Water Autonomy in Boston, the “Liberty Class” vessel offers a range of 10,000 nautical miles (11,508 miles/18,520 kilometers) and a payload capacity of 150 metric tons (330,693 pounds).

The platform is intended for multi-mission roles, including missile deployment, sensor integration, logistics support, and escort duties alongside traditional manned vessels.
