The Indian Army is exploring supersonic loitering munitions to counter next-generation air defenses and emerging battlefield threats.

The system uses a ramjet engine that maintains high-speed flight by compressing incoming air during forward motion, removing the need for conventional moving parts.

By operating at such speeds, the munition reduces enemy reaction time, increasing its effectiveness in breaching defenses and completing strike missions.
