The United States Department of State has cleared a possible $280 million foreign military sale to Jordan for Ku-band Multi-Function Radio Frequency Systems and related support equipment.

Jordan is seeking KuMRFS radars linked to command-and-control networks, along with generators and GPS receivers. The package further covers spare and replacement parts, diagnostic and testing tools, and training devices.

Comprehensive assistance would include engineering and logistics support from the US government and contractors, system integration, in-country technical services, and program management oversight. The deal’s main contractor is expected to be RTX Missile Defense Technologies.

US officials stated the proposed transfer supports American foreign policy goals by bolstering Jordan’s defensive capabilities as a designated major non-NATO ally and long-term regional partner.

System Overview

KuMRFS provides continuous 360-degree radar coverage, enabling real-time surveillance and simultaneous tracking of multiple airborne objects in fast-changing environments.

Designed initially to counter rockets, artillery, and mortar threats, the radar has expanded into a versatile, multi-mission sensor with a growing emphasis on counter-unmanned aerial systems.

Its advanced resolution allows it to detect and classify small, low-observable aerial threats that traditional radars may struggle to identify. The system generates accurate tracking data suitable for integration into layered air defense networks and can support a range of effectors, including cannons, missile interceptors, and directed-energy systems.
