The US Marine Corps has joined the race to field a loyal wingman drone, awarding Northrop Grumman and Kratos the contract to develop its inaugural Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).

The aircraft will leverage the XQ-58 Valkyrie, a stealthy unmanned platform designed for conventional takeoff and landing, configurable payload bays, and flexible mission employment.

Powered by Northrop’s Advanced Mission Kit, the CCA will incorporate advanced sensors and software-driven capabilities to conduct kinetic and non-kinetic missions, making it operationally combat-ready.
