The US State Department has cleared a Baseline 2 upgrade package for Australia’s MC-55A intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare (ISREW) aircraft.
Canberra’s request covers equipment and services to sustain its MC-55A Peregrine fleet, including both major and minor modifications, spare parts, technical and logistics support, and other associated elements.
Valued at an estimated $404 million, the proposed Foreign Military Sale will proceed pending approval by the US Congress.
According to the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the deal would boost Australia’s ability to maintain its MC-55As, enhancing its effectiveness in air operations while also supporting US missions in the region.
Texas-based L3Harris has been named as the primary contractor, with no offset arrangements planned.
