US-based defense technology firm EagleNXT has revealed a strategic investment in Israeli unmanned systems developer Aerodrome as part of its effort to broaden capabilities in autonomous warfare technologies and loitering munitions.

The deal includes an option for EagleNXT to form a joint venture with Aerodrome in the United States, contingent upon regulatory approval and the conclusion of final negotiations between the two companies. The value of the investment was not made public.

Advancing Autonomous Capabilities

Aerodrome develops technology focused on advanced target recognition and autonomous decision-support systems, enabling unmanned platforms to detect, identify, and track designated targets even in highly contested operational environments.

EagleNXT produces drone platforms, sensor suites, and software solutions used by government and commercial customers. The company stated that the investment supports its long-term strategy to expand its portfolio of intelligent and autonomous defense technologies serving defense, public safety, and industrial sectors.

According to the companies, the partnership could further strengthen technological cooperation between US and Israeli defense industries as military forces increasingly rely on autonomous systems and unmanned platforms in operational planning.

While EagleNXT did not clarify whether Aerodrome’s loitering munition technologies will be integrated into existing systems or future platforms, the agreement reflects a broader defense industry trend toward combining surveillance, autonomy, and strike functions within a single unmanned architecture.

Increasing Military Interest

Demand for loitering munitions has surged globally as armed forces look for cost-effective precision strike options capable of engaging fast-moving or time-sensitive targets.

These systems have played a prominent role in modern conflicts, including the war in Ukraine and hostilities across the Middle East, where they have been used to strike armored formations, artillery units, and other strategic assets.

Israel has been a pioneer in the development of such technologies. Systems like the Harop created by Israel Aerospace Industries helped establish the operational concept of loitering munitions and have since been exported to numerous international customers.
