In 2026, the US Army will start prototyping the Modular Mission Payload (MMP), a plug-and-play electronic warfare kit adaptable to almost any platform.
The effort falls under the broader Army Transformation Initiative, which focuses on creating standardized systems, platforms, and software through a modular architecture.
Speaking to Breaking Defense, a program manager from the Army’s Intelligence, EW, and Sensors division emphasized that the project remains at an early stage.
He noted that a key part of the prototyping effort next fiscal year will be assessing how many systems the Army requires and their role within different force structures.
