In a major advancement for Turkey’s defense industrial base, the Turkish Army has inducted its first locally developed self-propelled howitzer, underscoring the nation’s progress toward artillery system independence.

Known as the T-155 TTA, the platform integrates the MKE 155mm Panter gun on a BMC 8×8 vehicle, paired with Aselsan’s fire control suite. System-level integration was completed by the 2nd Main Maintenance Factory Directorate within the Ministry of National Defense.

The General Directorate of Military Factories awarded the development contract in 2020 to ASFAT, which conducted the initial firing trials in December 2022.

During its three-year testing and qualification process, the prototype logged over 20,000 km across challenging terrain and executed approximately 350 live-fire rounds, demonstrating its mobility, reliability, and combat readiness ahead of operational induction.
