Estonian defense firm Milrem Robotics has integrated the Ukrainian-made BURIA remote weapon station onto its THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).
The BURIA system, equipped with a 40mm automatic grenade launcher capable of striking targets up to 1,100 meters, was validated during live-fire trials in Ukraine under operational conditions. The tests demonstrated THeMIS’s stability, target tracking, and precision, according to Milrem.
The 47-kilogram BURIA turret features automated fire control and guidance for fast, accurate engagement. It has been in service with the Ukrainian military since January 2025 and has now entered serial production.
THeMIS, one of the first UGVs deployed by Ukraine against Russia, has performed missions including casualty evacuation and route clearance. The platform can reach speeds of 50 km/h and operate for up to eight hours, with options for machine guns, anti-tank missiles, and other weapon systems.
Additional trials are scheduled in the coming weeks to refine the system and assess its deployment potential in varied battlefield scenarios.
