Spain is developing a new counter-battery radar capable of rapidly detecting incoming artillery shells, rockets, and mortar rounds while identifying their launch origin.
Known as RALOFI (Radar for Locating the Origin of Indirect Fire), the system uses a fully electronically scanned array architecture combined with gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology and software-defined radio communications.
These advanced technologies are designed to enhance detection range and targeting accuracy against indirect fire threats, while also strengthening the radar’s resistance to electronic warfare and signal interference.
