Slovakia’s Ministry of Defence has presented a new-generation combat uniform and a full suite of modern infantry weapons as part of a broad modernization drive for the armed forces.
The newly introduced Personal Clothing System – Combat Uniform, designated M25 (Vzor 25), replaces the legacy digital camouflage system adopted in 2007, with a focus on soldier comfort, protection, and long-duration operational survivability.
According to Militär Aktuell, Defence Minister Zmeko said the uniform is designed to support sustained field operations, incorporating frontline experience and lessons drawn from recent conflicts into its design.
The core uniform package costs around €300 ($354) and includes trousers, a combat shirt, and headgear, with mission-adapted variants, including flame-resistant versions, available for specialized roles.
While the base fabric is sourced abroad, manufacturing, tailoring, and finishing will be performed by Slovak companies, supporting domestic industry participation.
In parallel with the uniform rollout, soldiers will receive new body armor systems, helmets, and night-vision equipment, strengthening individual soldier protection and situational awareness.
Grand Power Small Arms Program
The Ministry of Defence also confirmed the induction of new Slovak-made small arms produced by Grand Power.
The GP M4M 5.56×45 mm rifle will serve as the standard infantry weapon, complemented by the GP R10 7.62×51 mm sniper rifle, Stribog SP9 A3 9×19 mm submachine gun, and GP Q1 9 mm sidearm.
Defence Minister Kaliňák said the modernization effort will require an investment of approximately €82 million ($96.7 million), with phased deliveries continuing through 2028.
