Saab has expanded its defense cooperation in Poland by signing new agreements with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and WB Group.
Through the updated partnership with PGZ, Saab will collaborate with the state-owned defense group to develop domestic submarine maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities linked to Poland’s Orka submarine program.
Meanwhile, the agreement with WB Group focuses on joint development and cooperation in autonomous maritime systems and unmanned aerial vehicles, including projects such as Gladius and the Future Task Force platforms.
According to Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson, the partnerships are intended to advance technological capabilities that support regional security and stability in Europe and the Baltic Sea.
The deals also align with Saab’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with local industry and expand its footprint across Central and Eastern Europe.
Saab’s History With PGZ and WB Group
Cooperation between Saab and PGZ began in September 2025 when the companies signed a memorandum of understanding at a defense exhibition held in Poland.
The initial agreement explored collaboration in multi-domain military technologies and potential joint projects aimed at supporting Ukraine as well as strengthening European defense.
During the same event, Saab also launched a strategic partnership with WB Group covering unmanned aerial systems, naval technologies, and border protection solutions, with the goal of accelerating innovation and strengthening defense cooperation between Poland and Sweden.
These earlier understandings paved the way for the latest agreements, which move the collaboration toward concrete industrial partnerships and technology development.
