The Russian defense firm Kalashnikov has begun producing its compact AM-17 assault rifle after trials in Ukraine. Weighing just 5.5 lbs, the firearm can be collapsed for transport in tight environments. It uses standard 5.45mm rounds, offers a 400m effective range, and high fire rate. The design answers troop requests for lighter, versatile small arms optimized for modern mobile warfare.
