North Korea has unveiled a new short-range air defense system that appears to borrow heavily from a familiar design template.

Photos from the recent Defense Development 2025 exhibition reveal a platform strikingly similar to Russia’s Pantsir system. However, unlike the original’s wheeled base, North Korea’s version uses a tracked chassis — marking a clear evolution from its previous configurations.

This modification indicates an emphasis on enhanced mobility and resilience in rugged or contested environments, enabling the system to accompany frontline forces and counter low-altitude aerial threats more effectively.
